This is my polished blog. I also have an ugly blog acting as my "dead man's switch" where you are the switch.

I made it to Cape Canaveral!  The last 20 miles were in the dark and the last 10 of that were on a busy highway with almost no shoulder.  Uugh.
I didn’t know, but there was a launch of a Space X mission.  The campground is just across the Indian River from the Cape.  The launch was neat.  You can see the rocket in the top left corner.  The plume is below that.

I planned to bike over to the visitor center for tours while I’m here.  I almost made it.  I had gone about 5 miles across the bridge when a nice NASA police officer pulled me over.  I was in the right turn lane for the visitor center!
I didn’t mind the highway.  It was two lanes in each direction with no shoulder.  I just “claimed the lane” and made traffic go around me.
It turned out that the entire NASA police staff went nuts.   I think they just implemented a no biking policy.  Ernie said it was because a biker was killed recently on NASA property.
It was funny in a way.  Another officer said to Ernie something like “Well it’s not a bike, what do we do?”

  1. Hey Tom, Congratulations on making up to Canaveral. Too funny about the police "what to do". What to do is control the stupid cars not outlaw bikes. Hope you got to go to the visitor's center. Your route looks like you may be going somewhere near our old home town of Charlottesville VA. We're in Blue Springs State Park hanging out with the manatee. It's cold here. 30 degrees last night. Safe cycling!!
