This is my polished blog. I also have an ugly blog acting as my "dead man's switch" where you are the switch.

Cape Canaveral was a highlight of my trip.
I just happened to be there in time for the Space X launch.  In the campsite next to me, a group of friends from Savannah and Orlando came for the weekend and the launch.  They were a priceless bunch.  I enjoyed there company immensely.  There was great conversation, good food, and a warm fire.

I had one of my amazingly lucky trips.
I started out for breakfast, but I had a few other things on my list.  One of the Matt’s at the campsite explained how WD-40 could be a good degreaser for a bike chain.  My feet had been cold.  I figured another pair of socks would be great.
The Garmin led me astray, so I stopped at a U-haul place to find a good restaurant.  The lady pointed me to a good restaurant a mile back and mentioned that it would be colder tonight.   After breakfast, I passed an auto parts store.  I stopped for rags and WD-40.  I chatted a bit with the fellow at the store.  He said I should try the Dollar General store next door for socks.
What kismet!
After my experience with the NASA police Saturday, I figured out that I could just call a cab to get there.  I took the “Cape Canaveral:  Then & Now Tour”.  I’m a huge fan of the Apollo program.   The tour was nice, but I was a bit disappointed since I started off being so educated.  We saw many of the early launch pads & control centers .  Like the Apollo program, the technology for these was way ahead of their time.  We visited the launch pad for Alan Shepard’s Gemini launch.

We also visited the launch pad of the Apollo I disaster.

Later I visited the museum with an Apollo rocket.  It was quite large.  It got me to thinking that they designed the rocket from the top down.  How to land, how to get from the moon to the earth, how to take off and land on the moon, etc.  The size of the number of stages and the sizes would follow.

The only downside is that I made such a mess of my stuff that I had to spend another day to get myself packed.
