This is my polished blog. I also have an ugly blog acting as my "dead man's switch" where you are the switch.

Mike used to cycle a lot.   He says that there have been dozens of bikers killed in the area.  I can see why.
Mike and I looked at the Adventure Cycling route I’m on.  The spur to Charleston SC is bad, but there isn’t a better route.  Mike is going to drive me 30 miles out tomorrow (Sunday) for a good starting place.  That should make tomorrow’s ride a nice experience.
My agenda on the ride also includes shopping thrift stores for knick-knacks.
I’ve also found it to be fun to explore the local food.  I found that lots of folks in rural GA and SC like thick raisin toast with their breakfast.
Mom and Dad both made an excellent traditional hollandaise sauce.  I’ve taken the best of both and made my own.  Mine has red pepper.
As a result I love eggs Benedict and am a connoisseur of Hollandaise sauce.
So far, I can only think of two restaurants with a good version.  One is Testa’s in Palm Beach FL, the other is Wild Eggs in Louisville KY.  Mike is taking for eggs Benedict tomorrow on our way out.
We walked Mike’s dog around The Battery.  Mike was showing me the sights and telling me the history.  Here’s a photo of Fort Sumter and the park.  It was beautiful.

After our walk, it started raining.  What a treat to just stay inside and rest.
I had another coincidence.  I dropped my camera.  On our walk, I discovered it seemed to be broken a bit.
Mike had to run some errands.  We stopped at Wal-Mart and Goodwill along the way.  I got a new camera, food, and socks (I had lost one in Moncks Corner).  I’m all set up for peanut butter & honey tacos and tuna salad tacos.  At Goodwill I found a wonderful replica of an Early American Sugar Bowl that had been decorated by a student at a local elementary school.  I might find a spot for it.

  1. Glad to hear you've made it all the way to Charleston. Good to have a cousin there to meet up with. Sounds like things are going fairly well other than the shoulderless road and the camera. Glad you got it replaced.
