This is my polished blog. I also have an ugly blog acting as my "dead man's switch" where you are the switch.

My stay in Folkston GA was wonderful.  Janice at The Inn at Folkston is a treasure.  The Inn has a train theme.  It turns out that Folkston is known by train buffs as “The Folkston Funnel”.  All traffic to Florida has to come through Folkston.

Here’s a viewing station.  It has a loudspeaker tuned to the train radio so you know which train is coming next.  People come here from hundreds of miles.
It started out all right.  The roads were quiet.  The few drivers were friendly.  The weather was nice.
It must have been a dream.  I don’t know how many dogs chased me.
The cows, goats, and bulls were fascinated by me.  Pretty much every animal that sees me will track me all the way.  The bull was chasing after me to guard his territory.  I’m glad there was a fence.
Pine trees are a big item.  Here are some being harvested.
At least this was just a rumble strip.  I could ride it between my rear wheel and my right front wheel.
 A beautiful field.

I found out that the middle of Georgia is not a vacation spot.  Duhh.   I first went to the “RV park”.  It was closed.  Next was the town of Odom GA.  No hotels.  Finally Jesup GA.  That’s a 90 mile ride for 9 biking hours (not including stops).
The locals were an interesting lot.  The gas stations are the social hub.  I guess it was warm.  Lots of folks were running around barefoot.   One snippet of a conversation was about someone taking someone else’s gun.  Most everyone had lots of tattoos.  I decided not to take photos!

  2. LOL - middle of Georgia is not a vacation spot. Probably a great decision to skip the pictures of the locals. Hope you found a place to stay and went movin' right along the next day. Do the routes you are following have lodging suggestions on them? Hope so.
