This is my polished blog. I also have an ugly blog acting as my "dead man's switch" where you are the switch.

PLEASE COMMENT

I’m sure many folks are new to the concept of a blog.  Think of it like an online diary.  I want to keep this so I can remember my experiences over time.  YOU ARE A BIG PART OF THIS.
If you find something I’ve written sparks a comment, please do so.  I would greatly appreciate comments on the blog.  They will be preserved the future and are already organized.  I appreciate e-mail, but I find it to be transitory.  It is so easy to misplace or loose e-mail.
Two things about a comment:  first it is part of the blog, so it is public; second, it may have a secondary benefit of having other people comment.
I’ve done what I can to keep my blog private.  It is only available by word of mouth and not via Google or Facebook.
In closing, here’s my status.
I have multiple sclerosis.  It has gotten to a point where it’s just going to get worse.  After long consideration, I woke up and started on my “If not now, when?” trike tour.  My ambition is to ride across the country.
Palm Beach FL to Richmond VA to Natchez MS to Louisville KY to Vancouver to Los Angeles CA.  I will probably stop a few times to recharge.

  2. I enjoy reading your blog every day - i really enjoy your pictures - thank you for posting - commenting is not easy - i have tried in the past - - unsuccessfully - - and I am trying again - it just ate my first attempt. We will see if this works - but this is why you are not getting comments - -- you have to have an account - - you have to remember the password - - aagh!!

    1. Betty, thanks for the info.

This is definitely a problem I need to solve.

    2. Good hearing, Tom. I always look for the toes of your biking shoes in the bottom of the photos. Gives me the impression of being a co-pilot in your high-tech machine!

  3. Tom I've put your blog link on my blog so I don't know if you will get any comments from that but I didn't realize you were keeping it somewhat private. I think the double certification required when one tries to post a comment on your blog may also be deterring people. Those words are very hard to read. Most folks I know have taken off those and instead screen their comments by having them come to their email first so that they can ditch the spam. Just a thought.

    1. I'm very glad to have my blog passed around. It was wonderful to hear from your friends Gayle & Jim. Thanks much for putting a link to my blog on your blog.

All that I've done for some privacy is to change the Blogspot setting so it won't be visible to search engines.

I'm new to Blogspot, so I am unfamiliar with how to make it easy for people to comment. So far, it seems that you have to have a Google+ account to do this.

  4. Tom.

The best part of touring is the wonderful people you meet. It always restores my faith in the human race. The downside to touring is sharing the road with some of the motorized vehicles.

I think your revised route will be pleasurable, even though not completely car-free.

I definitely enjoy reading your updates and each posts makes me want to get back on the road.

  5. Tom, I found your blog through Sherry's blog. http://directionofourdreams.blogspot.com/
Really enjoying reading about your trip. We've ridden recumbent bikes for many years.
Probably a wise idea that you've changed your route. The Blue Ridge Parkway will be plenty challenging!

    1. The Google Earth view of some of the roads in Appalachia were frightening.
